PTA Activities & Committees

After School Enrichment. The After School Enrichment program is a chance for students to take extra interest-based classes right here at Deep Wood. A small tuition fee is charged. (October and January)

Box Tops/Labels for Education. The easiest fundraising ever! Check your groceries for specially marked labels, turn them in to the classroom teacher, and Deep Wood gets the cash--$.10 per label! (All year).

Cell Phone & Ink Cartridges. Send your old printer cartridges and dead cell phones to the office, and PTA turns them in for cash! (All year)

Chili Cookoff. Enter a pot of chili in this all-family contest, or just come and enjoy the food! (February)

Clothes Closet. District PTAs join together to provide clothing for students in need. Each eligible child can select five outfits twice a year, plus coats and jackets once a year. (All year)

Clothes Tree. Deep Wood generously helps the less fortunate with donations of socks and underwear. (December)

Harvest Hoedown. School-wide Saturday carnival that includes booths, food, and the popular Silent Auction. Many volunteers are needed, as well as donations of items for the auction. This major fundraiser supports a variety of PTA activities. (October)

Muffins for Moms. Deep Wood parents and their pre-schoolers meet in the library at 7:30 a.m. for breakfast goodies and good company. (TBA)

Newsletter. The PTA produces the "Dino Beat" once a month, keeping you informed of classroom and PTA events. (Monthly)

Physically Fit. Meet on Deep Wood's track after school Tuesdays and Thursdays and walk or run from 3:00-4:00pm. An easy way to get your miles in for Marathon Kids! (Oct.-Dec.)

Recycling. There is a dumpster out behind the cafeteria especially marked for recyclable paper. Fill it up, and help us earn cash! (All year)

Reflections. A creative arts program sponsored by the national PTA that challenges students to take photographs, draw, paint, write poems, stories, or music reflecting a specified theme. Outstanding entries are recognized from individual schools, districts, regions, states, and the entire nation. (September-October)

School Supplies. Make sure you have the correct supplies for the year by pre-ordering a ready made package. The lists are approved by the teachers, so you'll already have your supplies ready for pickup in August. Couldn't be easier! (May-August)

T-Shirt Days. Purchase a Deep Wood T-shirt to wear on Fridays or on field trips. (All year)

Teacher Appreciation Week. Deep Wood students always appreciate their teachers, but this week in the spring especially acknowledges the effort teachers put forth to make DWE the best learning environment for our children. (Spring)

Website. Deep Wood PTA is in the process of getting its own website. Watch for the grand opening!

Yearbook. Bring your camera to special Deep Wood events, and submit the pictures to the yearbook at the end of the year.
